Slow Cooker Balsamic Chicken & Sausage

Who doesn’t love a good cooker recipe? I acknowledge that i’m completely outside that Crockin Craze ‘that spread through Facebook like wildfire a year or 2 ago (pre-Paleo, of course). i was all over the cream of mushroom dishes like white on rice … i am a little embarrassed regarding it currently. Anyway, I still love my slow cooker, i am simply a little additional selective regarding what I throw into it.

Balsamic Chicken & Sausage Recipe (Slow Cooker)

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (don’t hate me for that)
  • 1 white onion, thinly sliced (not diced!)
  • 4-6 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 6 fresh (e.g. uncooked, raw) Italian sausage links (sweet or spicy or a combo is fine)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup water or chicken stock
  • 1 – 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • + 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • + 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 – 14.5 oz cans organic diced tomatoes
  • + 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp kosher salt

Preparation:

  1. Arrange the gross breasts in the bottom of the slow cookerSlow Cooker Balsamic Chicken & Sausage and sprinkle with a few tablespoons of olive oil. Add the first round seasonings directly on the chicken (Italian seasoning, garlic powder and salt). Do not mix, just leave on top. During the process of slow cooking chicken seasons it directly for the perfect flavor. Arrange the costs (for example raw, uncooked) whole sausage links on the seasoned chicken.
  2. Layer the sliced onion and chopped garlic next. Then add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, water / stock and balsamic vinegar in the pot. Top with the second round of seasonings. Again, do not mix it. I like how the flavors develop with this style.Slow Cooker Balsamic Chicken & SausageSlow Cooker Balsamic Chicken & Sausage
